Description
[Side 1] Bill recalls childhood rides on donkey that used to gallop across field and stop instantly on seeing thistle and pitch rider off, recalls childhood friend feeding donkey prone to biting hand, talks briefly about 'faying out' [= carting muck], recalls occasion when donkey threw him off cart while 'leading' [= carting] coal from Bilberry. [Side 2] Bill and George tell series of anecdotes about local carters fondness for stopping off for drink at pub, Bill recalls occasion own father returned home drunk and asked him to help 'hug' [= carry] sacks of corn, Bill fell down steps under weight of corn so father had to hug sacks himself, George lists typical deliveries for carters incl. helping folk 'flit' [= to move home] and carting stone, claims horses often stood outside pubs so long at night they eventually took themselves home.
