[Side 1] William talks about regular work maintaining and repairing lawnmowers for e.g. local golf courses, recalls Mr Arter's frequent inspections to ensure mower blades were sharp, describes occasion when Walter A. Woods (US manufacturer of original binder) offered to pay Arter to send modified binder to US agricultural show and acquire patent, explains how deal fell through as Arter insisted on stamping machine with 'A.C. Arter'. [Side 2]William talks about contract work delivering granite and timber to depots, describes narrowly avoiding serious accident when transporting timber, discusses father's work as waggoner at Nonington and pride in horses, tells anecdote about helping father with horses.

William b. Barham, aged 71; school in Barham till aged 12, whole life in Denton except during WW1 and 2 years at Nonnington as child and 7 years mining in Snowdon (Kent); father b. Barham, farm worker; mother b. Barham, farm worker; wife b. London.
