Description
[Side 1] Charles lists crops and livestock on own farm, reflects on changes in farming incl. decline in use of horses since introduction of tractors, recalls trips to market with horse and van before acquiring first farm lorry, mentions recent Golden Weddding Anniversary and photograph under tree he and wife planted when courting, reflects on modern farming and disadvantage of small farmer competing with large amalgamated farms and adjusting to government regulation. [Side 2] Charles recalls setting up own farm of 5 acres, stresses importance of experience, comments nephews emigrated to Australia and New Zealand, compares old wooden horse-drawn plough with modern iron double-furrow plough, reflects on obsolescence of traditional farming equipment since introduction of tractor.
