Description
[Side 1] Fred discusses decline in number of working horses locally, comments horses now only kept as hunters or for children to ride, mentions last seeing local farmer using 'tumbrel' [= horse-drawn cart] three years previously, discusses farm workers' wages and cost of living in past, outlines typical day working with horses in past incl. ploughing, explains how to mark out field. [Side 2] Martin discusses temperament of Suffolk [= breed of horse] and suitability for ploughing, describes pride in own team of horses, recalls one particular team of horses with whom he developed special relationship.
