Description

[Side 1] Amos describes shock of grandmother's pockets being emptied after she died suddenly in Red Lion, describes transport in past, incl. three-wheeled bicycle and penny farthing, recalls lodger having accident on penny farthing, discusses perils of travelling by horse and cart in snow and ice, talks about severe winters in past. [Side 2] Amos describes occasion when he was very nearly seriously injured when repairing well, describes how horse-pumps from wells were used to supply barns with water during harvest, explains how to dig well and lists local pumps, reflects on introduction of mains water and compares fresh well water with local water supply purified using lime.
