Description

Physical photographs (prints, contact sheets, 35mm slides, medium format slides, negatives, transparencies) and digitised images (TIFs). It is believed the images were commissioned and maintained by the Communications Department and its predecessor bodies. Discernible series and original order has been maintained as far as possible, including the sub-series of Company Press & Publicity Office images and the PR Department images. Where no discernible series were apparent, photographs have been arranged by format and in subject files (e.g. by production or Artistic Director era). Photographs created and/or maintained by other departments are with those departmental records, e.g., Development (MSS239.6.3.2) and Learning (MSS239.5). There are also photographs in the Communications assorted papers (MSS239.3.1) and Personal Papers (MS2239.11). For productions where there are multiple versions the choreographer and year of the version's premiere is included in the title, for instance 'A Midsummer
Night's Dream' (de Warren 1981) and 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' (Nixon 2003).

Linda Rich, Contact: l.rich@dancepicturelibrary.com, Permissions: “As you say the copyright is mine and at the time I took the photographs NBT were entitled to use them in relation to the commission. As such a long period has passed since the images were taken that right no longer exists albeit you are perfectly entitled to hold on to whatever hard copy I provided. In essence if the posts are purely to highlight the archive content and not being used to advertise or promote the Northern Ballet I think it would be fair to say that you can use them. However I must insist, in writing, that any other usages would have to be forwarded to me to clear and that any postings, within the context allowed, have to be web-sized and not downloadable. Credit © Linda Rich
