Description
Engraved throughout. The title is taken from plate [1]. Plates [2-3] are signed by T. Laws: Delint [and] Wm: Darling Sculpt.
See also Bedford Collection copy A129 with 6 plates.
This has only three plates (including one with the original title unaltered). It was reprinted and published around 1795 by Isaac and Josiah Taylor in an omnibus volume containing copies of three other collections of vases: Fourteen vases from the antique [1774?], Eighteen vases, modern and antique [ca. 1791-1794], and Columbani's Vases and tripods on twelve plates [ca. 1776-1778]. For this later collection the Taylors seem to have 'borrowed' Laws' old title-plate in order to economise on the cost of producing a new plate for what was after all only a repackaging of their existing stock relative to the subject. See British Architectural Library catalogue.
First item in a bound volume of 4 items on vases [see note above].
Bound with: 2. Vases and tripods on twelve plates. / Placido Columbani. London: I Taylor, 1775? 3. Fourteen vases from the antique. / London: I Taylor, 1775-1776? 4. Eighteen vases, modern and antique. London: I & J Taylor.
