Description
25 interviews with women who worked in the British film and television industries in various roles.
The interviews are 'life stories', covering family and education as well as working lives. For many of the interviewees, it was the first time they had spoken in detail about their working lives and careers.
The interviews are in digital format and are on average 7 hours in length. A summary of each interview is included in each individual interview record.
The interviews were recorded as part of an AHRC-funded project, 'History of Women in the British Film and Television Industries.
Provenance
The interviews were lodged in Special Collections on a hard drive by Dr. Melanie Bell, Associate Professor in Film & Media in the School of Media & Communication at the University of Leeds. Dr. Bell was Principal Investigator (PI) for the AHRC-funded project, 'History of Women in British Film and Television', which generated the interviews. Dr. Bell took up the role of PI while at Newcastle University. The project team consisted of Dr. Bell, Co-Investigator Vicky Ball and doctorial student Frances Galt, both of de Montfort University, and Research Associate Sue Bradley from Newcastle University.
The interviews were recorded between 2014 and 2017, and in 2018 were also made available via the British Universities & Colleges Film & Video Council website Learning On Screen, along with other outputs from the project - learningonscreen.ac.uk/womenswork
