Description

Highly pictorial 19th century engraved trade card of J. D. Cliff [Joseph D. Cliff] depicting windows with chairs, foliage, flowers and horse and cart pulling funeral hearse shown in panes. Ornate curtain pole with elaborate swags and perched bird edges card. Trader details in a variety of typefaces with decorative flourishes. 'I' thought to be used interchangeably. Engraver details have been erased from bottom of card.


Transcription: I. [J.] D. CLIFF, Upholsterer AND Cabinet Maker, High Street NANTWICH. Paper hangings FLOOR Cloths &c. Portable Desks, SOFAS, Chair Beds &c. FUNERALS COMPLETELY FURNISHED.
