Description
Simple 19th century engraved trade card (label) of Ah Foo. Trader details in a variety of typefaces with decorative flourishes. Printed street number 28 has been crossed out, with manuscript ink note '31' written to left. Canton [Guangzhou City] manufactory address written in Chinese at sides of card, roughly translating as 'Carpenter's shop is located in Guangzhou City Market, at shop number 28 accessed from the left side entrance gate'.
Transcription: AH FOO, CARPENTER AND CABINET MAKER, From Canton, HAS ALWAYS ON HAND, CHEST TRUNKS & HOUSEHOLD FURNITURES FOR SALE. CLOSE TO EASTERN MARKET No. 31 Queen's Road, Hong Kong.
