Description

Pictorial 18th century engraved trade card of Gatfield & Co. Trader details in decorative frame adorned with various household objects such as brushes, buckets and mops hanging from the sides. A cradle sits on two chairs across the top of frame. Trade card is cut out and pasted onto grey paper. Remains of previous white paper mount and glue present on reverse.


Transcription: Gatfield & Co. on St Margts [Margarets] Hill, Southwark. Make & Sell all Sorts of Mops, Brushes, Brooms, Seives [Sieves], Painted Floor Cloths, Leghorn & Straw-hats, Fine Cradles & all Sorts of Basket Ware. Lignum Vitae & Tunbridge Wares, and all Sorts of Turnery Goods, for Exportation.
