Description
Highly pictorial 18th century engraved trade card (advertisement) of D. Orme [Daniel Orme]. Large image filling card depicting seated female figure in classical dress painting at an easel, with a beehive, marble head and cornucopia at her feet. Two putti overhead cast light on the scene. One holds wreath and feathers of Duke of Wales while the other blows a trumpet and holds a crown. Trader details inscribed on banner at bottom of trade card. Print marks visible and manuscript mathematical calculations in ink on reverse.
Transcription: D. ORME. Historical Engraver to his Majesty and his Royal Highnefs [Highness] the PRINCE of WALES. No. 14, Old Bond Street. A choice Collection of Pictures, Drawings & Prints, by the most approved Masters. Alfo [Also] all forts [sorts] of Picture Frames, Drawing Materials, Sattin [Satin] Prints & Medallions for Screens, Caddies, &c. &c.
