Description
Simple 19th century engraved trade card (advertisement) of Joshua Jowett, on folded sheet. Trader details in a variety of typefaces with decorative flourishes. Change of business address and list of wares detailed in notice to customers. Print marks visible, with large border around print area. Manuscript letter on inside of folded sheet from J. Jowett to Mitchell Esq. of Norfolk regarding painted baths.
Transcription: JOSHUA JOWETT Patentee of the Fire Guard Stove, Removed from High Holborn, opposite Southampton Strt [Street] to No. 76, GREAT QUEEN STREET, LINCOLN'S INN FIELDS, (the late Premises of Messrs Armstrong, Howitt & Pearson, Ironmongers). J. Jowett begs to acknowledge the extensive Patronage & Confidence he has obtained from the Nobility & Gentry for the last Eighteen Years, at his Premises in Holborn, & informs them he has removed his residence, to No. 76 GREAT QUEEN STREET, LINCOLN'S INN FIELDS, where by his assiduous attention he hopes to merit their continued Favors. J. Jowett also informs the Friends of Mefsrs [Messrs] Armstrong & Co that he has purchased their Premises, Goodwill & Stock, & begs to solicit their support, assuring them it shall be his constant endeavour to secure it. He begs to submit to their attention his PATENT FIRE GUARD STOVE, which has obtained its effectual security against accidents by Fire, a very extensive circulation. A large Afsortment
