Description

Pictorial 19th century engraved trade card of Burgess, depicting Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers livery in centre, suggestive of trader's membership. Motto 'amor et obedientia', beneath coat of arms, with two chained panthers as bearers and phoenix rising from ashes above. Trader details in a variety of typefaces with decorative flourishes.
