Description

Letters, notebooks, diaries, photographs and assoicated material documenting the work and life of Rosalie de Meric.

The majority of the collection was arranged and numbered by Julia Blackburn, and consists of the following:

V - Divorce thoughts, 1956. Leeds

VII 1940 Diary with Willie Barnes-Graham etc

X paintings nad portraits (clifford Bayliss) 1940s, 50s & 60s

XI Rosalie & Boomie's Death (letters relating to de Meric's sister, Vivienne, who died in 1939)

The collection also contains a substantial series of letters between de Meric and Julia Blackburn; letters between de Meric and Thomas Blackburn; twenty appointment diaries and address books, and de Meric's sister Vivienne's diary from 1931.

Biography or history

Rosalie de Meric was an artist and teacher. She was married to the poet Thomas Blackburn from 1945 - 1960, and was the mother of Julia Blackburn.

Archive acquired by Special Collections from Julia Blackburn, de Meric's daughter in 2009.
