Description

Literary Archive of Julia Blackburn. The collection includes comprehensive files on her published work up to 2008, some unpublished material, notebooks, diaries, photographs, correspondence and press cuttings.


The Archive is mainly arranged chronologically by publication, with files relating to Blackburn's published work kept together. Files often include research material, notebooks and photographs alongside notes and drafts. Unpulbished material, and writing for radio are kept separate;y. Other material in the collection is arranged in series by type and includes correspondence, photographs, correspondence.

Biography or history

Julia Blackburn is a British writer of fiction and non-fiction. She was born in London in 1948 and is the daughter of the poet Thomas Blackburn and the painter Rosalie de Meric. Blackburn has written sixteen books, including two novels, both shortlisted for the Orange Prize, and several mixes of biography and memoir. The Three of Us, about her upbringing with parents, won the PEN/Ackerley Prize for literary autobiography in 2009. Blackburn has also written for radio and has published poetry.
