Description
Three letters and three cards addressed to Read from Moore, and a copy of one letter from Read in reply. Letters cover a range of subjects including news of mutual friends, enquiries after Read's health, information on Moore's travels, discussion of potential purchases of sculptures by various individuals, and permissions to use photographs of Moore's work, presumably for Read's book on Moore. One postcard was sent from Berlin by Moore (c. Oct 1967) and contains signatures from 'lots of your friends' including Werner Hauftmann, who became the director of the Neue Nationalgalerie (New National Gallery) Berlin, the same year. The copy of a letter from Read to Moore (Jan 1965) concerns arrangements for a visit to Yorkshire, and for Moore to view sites at Heslington and Castleford.
