Description
This file contains letters to Herbert Read from Allen Tate as well as carbon copies of responses from Read.
The letters contain a mixture of personal and professional news. They include a letter of support for Tate from Read to the National Foundation on the Arts and Humanities, and also letters to and from Read and Paul Horgan at Wesleyan University, regarding a fellowship for Tate. 1 letter from Read suggests that Tate has been responsible for Read's invitation to the American Academy of Art and Letters.
Other letters regard the Sewanee Review memorial edition for T.S. Eliot, to which Read contributed, and personal news relating to the break-up of Tate from his second wife, Isabella.
