This file contains letters to Herbert Read from Edith Hoffmann. Hoffmann was editorial secretary of the Burlington Magazine 1938 - 1946, and then Assistant Editor 1946 - 1950.


1 letter from Tel Aviv in 1952 offers a vivid account of the city and of Hoffmann's life there. Hoffmann reports that she had to initially give up her work as an art historian, but that she is beginning to write again.


1 letter, written in 1958 refers to an application for a Bollingen Scholarship. A further letter, written in 1968 from Cape Town, mentions Hoffmann's current and previous places of residence across the world, and relates family news.
