Description
1 signed typescript letter addressed to Herbert Read from Colin Franklin (1f), written on Routledge and Kegan Paul headed paper. Franklin writes about Read's influence on his time at Routledge: 'you gave me a standard and example which is the only one I try to keep; by which I mean, that the only faith that matters in publishing is to believe a good book will be listened to and that nothing else about a book matters; an d that any silly rubbish which detaches itself from proper merit in a book,, as for instance that horrible word 'prestige' and an equally irritating phrase about 'market research' has no place. I believe that your quiet asumptions about these things at the basket over the years, has spread itself and that we share it in our decisions now.'
