Description

This file contains 2 manuscript and 2 signed typescript letters from Alan Clodd, the founder of Enitharmon Press, to Herbert Read. The letters concern a proposed book of tributes to the poet Kathleen Raine on her 60th birthday. The project was abandoned after Raine said that she did not like the idea. A carbon copy of Read's proposed contribution, a poem titled 'Ineluctability' is included in the file. It begins 'Our thoughts are but an echo heard.'
