Description

1 manuscript and 1 signed typescript letter to Herbert Read from Quentin Bell, 1f. The 1963 letter regards candidates for the Gregory Fellowships. Bell writes that he has been in touch with [David] Hockney, who does not appear interested; Bell himself supports Michael Andrews. In the letter dated 1967 Bell thanks Read for his cheering comments on one of Bell's books (unnamed, but possibly Victorian Artists, which was published by Routledge in 1967). Bell also describes his successor at the School of Fine Art in Leeds as a 'capital fellow' (unnamed but probably Laurence Gowing).
