Correspondence kept in broadly chronological order concerning Read's work with the Bollingen Foundation and the Bollingen series.


Letters cover the general business of the Bollingen Foundation,from the start of Read's association including his work as advisory editor on various projects in the Bollingen Series, recommendations for grant awards by the foundation, and the transfer of the Bollingen Series to Princeton University Press.


The file includes substantial correspondence between Read and members of the foundation, including

Vaun Gilmour, Jackson Matthews, Mary C Ritter, Bill Macguire and Richard Hull.


There are also letters from significant individuals, including one from Carl Jung concerning the editorship of his collected works (29 Jan 1958), a letter from Marianne Niehus and correspondence from Rupert Hart Davis.

Correspondence often refers to specific projects, including the Collected Jung and Kathleen Raine's 'Blake and Tradition', but has been kept in the order maintained by Read.
