Description

Loose sheets containing fair copies, in a single hand of c.1750, of Fitzgerald's published 'Poems on Several Occasions', and his largely unpublished 'Odes', 'Epigrams', and 'Miscellanies', the text of the first seemingly slightly revised from the 1733 edition.


Pages [ii],[vii] and all later unnumbered pages are blank.

Biography or history

Thomas Fitzgerald (1695? - 1752) attended Westminster School and then Trinity College, Cambridge (BA 1717, MA 1721). He was ordained deacon and priest in 1718, but spent most of his career as a master at Westminster School (Head Usher, 1741), publishing editions of Martial and Terence for the use of his pupils. He married the daughter of John Weston of Ockham, Surrey.
