Correspondence includes letters to Herbert Read from John West-Taylor, Secretary of the York Academic Trust and later Registrar of the University of York; Patrick Nuttgens, Director of the Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies at the University of York; David Blake of the Department of Music at the University of York; Eric James, Baron James of Rusholme, Vice-Chancellor of the University of York and Peter Robinson of the Students’ Representative Council at the University of York.


The letters discuss such topics as Read becoming a member of the York Academic Trust in 1958, Read’s thoughts on the University degree programmes and Read’s poem ‘Beata l’Alma’ being sung in a performance organised by the Department of Music and York Academic Trust in 1967.
