This file contains correspondence and associated material relating to the North Eastern Association for the Arts.
Correspondence includes letters to Herbert Read from Alexander Dunbar, Secretary and later Director of the North Eastern Association for the Arts; Clive Webster, Arts Officer (Drama) at the North Eastern Association for the Arts; Rupert Hart-Davies and John Braine, fellow judges for the North Eastern Association for the Arts Writers Awards 1966 and P. H. Bomford, Administrator at the North Eastern Association for the Arts. The letters mainly discuss Read becoming a judge for the Association’s Writers Awards 1966 for prose and poetry.
In a signed typescript letter to Read from Bomford, dated 25 Oct 1967, Read is confirmed as the Association’s Vice-President, 1f. Read accepts the role in a carbon copy response typed on verso, dated 30 Oct 1967, 1f.
