This file contains correspondence and associated material, in English and German, related to the intellectual discussion group Eranos.


Correspondence includes letters to Herbert Read from Olga Froebe-Kapteyn, founder of Eranos; Adolf Portmann, zoologist; Rudolf Ritsema, Director of Eranos; Dr. Hans Karper; Harald Binde and Eva van Hoboken, German writer, discussing various Eranos lectures and publications.


The file also includes a typescript invitation, in German, French and English, to Eranos 1968, 2ff, and an undated photocopy of a Herbert Read quote regarding Eranos, 1f. The quote states ‘Nowhere in our distracted world has the human spirit found such a perfect haven. In Eranos we have sheltered under the same portico listening to the silver voice of wisdom’.
