Description
Papers of Edward T. Joy, furniture historian and author.
This discrete archive contains Edward T. Joy's typescript and manuscript research and drafts with cuttings of his own published articles and articles by other writers on furniture history. Also included are photographs and correspondence, often on the publication of articles. The archive covers topics ranging from cabinet makers and furniture designers to wood working machinery and feathers for beds.
Provenance
Archive originally compiled by Edward T. Joy and subsequently acquired by John Bedford.
System of arrangement
The archive has been catalogued and repackaged according to its original order, as organised in folders. Each file level record represents an original folder. The original titles of the folders have been retained as the file record titles. As with other parts of the Bedford archive, the original colour of each folder is annotated on the new folders; as the files were originally yellow, there is a 'Y' on the front of the new files.
