Provenance

Some material was arranged by John Bedford into these series and were allocated references (please see alt ref). However there were several folders and boxes of unfiled materials that were similar in type and have been added tby the archivists as appropriate, (these will not have an alt ref).

Unfiled trade trade catalogues that were found have been added as a discrete group to the wider trade catalogue sub-collection. [Please see related items].

System of arrangement

This is not a title taken from the original list provided by J. Bedford. In the original list there was a section called "Original drawings, designs and inventories” [though it is not clear if this relates to trade catalogues present ] and another section “Miscellaneous ephemera” incorporating posters, advertisement sheet, pamphlets and indentures/apprenticeships. However it also included a large number of unfiled/mis-filed materials so the archivist has merged these two sections and arranged them to more accurately reflect contents.
