Description

Autograph letter, begins 'What you say about the Chapman suggestion is no doubt well weighed.'

Possibly follows letter dated 8 March [BC MS 19c Rossetti/3/2/41] which suggests George R Chapman for a proposed project at Rugby school. Here WMR acknowledes that Chapman's work is not the sort avocated by JLT, but suggests he is rated as a 'draughtsman of the figure' by [Dante] Gabriel [Rossetti], and is 'vastly superior to Stanhope.'

WMR relates an anecdote, heard at a considerable remove, about [Algernon Charles] Swinburne's liaison with American actress Adah Isaacs Menken.
