Description
A pale pink batik 'selendang' with a central panel of a floral design, edged in a key pattern, a wide border with star and circle motifs and an outer floral border. Made from silk chiffon with a batik cap (printing block) in yellow (undyed?) and orange/pink, with twisted tassels. This piece accompanies and matches the kain ITC 2022.30.
It was printed at the workshop of Batik Nofa, near Cirebon, West Java, and bought there by the donor. A box lid is associated with this item. The selendang cloth itself was produced elsewhere.
Selendangs were traditionally made as carrying cloths.
Made in Trusmi village, Cirebon district, West Java.
