Description
Cream museum exhibit card from the Department of Colour Chemistry, displaying 15 annotated photomicrographs of lengths and cross sections of hemp fibres associated with textiles.
Top row: Bologna Hemp, ends and typical fibres, stained with Herzberg's solution, mounted in Euparal, X800.
Middle row: i. Bologna Hemp, hand cut sections X800, stained with Delafield's Haematoxylin; ii. Bologna Hemp, chemical sections, X400; iii. Manila Hemp, end and typical fibres, narrow lumen and broad lumen, stained with Herzberg's solution, mounted in Euparal, X800.
Bottom row: Manila Hemp cross sections: i. narrow lumens ii. broad lumens (i and ii. are hand cut sections, stained with Delafield's Haematoxylin), iii. chemical sections X400.
