Description
Cream museum exhibit card from the Department of Colour Chemistry, displaying eleven annotated samples of dyed velour. From top left: Samples 1-9 are of cotton weft pile in different stages of preparation:
1. loom state
2. sized and cut
3. scoured
4. brushed and prepared
5. dyed with vat dyes
6. finished
7. unmercerised
8. mercerised
9. unmercerised with mercerised Jaspe
Samples 10 -11. are in viscose silk pile on cotton backing.
10. yard dyed
11. piece dyed
Samples are glued to apertures.
