Description
Cream museum exhibit card from the Department of Colour Chemistry, displaying nine annotated samples of dyed doppi silk and satin. Some samples glued, some attached with tape.
The card is divided into three sections.
1. three sampes: i. silk in gum linen natural; ii. degummed and finished; iii. dyed.
2. Velvet: Schappe spun silk pile on cotton foundation. i. loom state; ii. finished natural; iii. dyed
3. yarn dyed samples: i. nett silk damask (red) ii. spun and tram silk taffetta (green-brown) iii. brocatelle: nett silk and linen backing (green and gold).
