Description

Cream museum exhibit card from the Department of Colour Chemistry, displaying six annotated samples of dyed canvas. Samples are glued to apertures, one attached with tape.


Row 1. two samples of 'linen warp, jute weft canvases for cart covers after waterproofing'.


Row 2. two samples 'double flax warp, single hemp weft canvas for rick and railway waggon covers after waterproofing'. Loom state on left, calendered on right.


Row 3. two samples: 'proofed with copper soap' - green (on left); 'proofed with linseed oil (raw oil boiled with 8% red lead for 2 hrs) and vegetable carbon black' - black (on right)
