Description

Cream museum exhibit card from the Department of Colour Chemistry, displaying five annotated samples of coloured stripe and shadow stripe poplin in different stages of treatment. The samples are entitled (from top left) grey, soda ash boil, chemicked [sic], soured, finished.


Annotation below reads: Acid dye sighting colour in grey to mark opposite twist of warp. Vat dye stripe with direct dye ground in the finish.


Samples are glued to apertures.
