Description
Cream museum exhibit card from the Department of Colour Chemistry, displaying 6 annotated samples demonstrating the stages of preparation of Khaki dyed and knitted wool textile for army puttees (lower leg bindings or gaiters). Described on the card as 'Loose wool dyed Khaki with Azo Chrome Colours; blended with grey and Indigo dyed wool; spun; yarn Knitted'. The samples are annotated individually (from top left) In the grease; Scoured; Milled; Tentered; Pressed; Finished. The last sample has a (cotton?) tape securely attached with machine stitching.
Samples are glued to apertures, except the last one (bottom right) which is attached with tape.
