Description

Cream museum exhibit card from the Department of Colour Chemistry, displaying 7 annotated samples showing the stages of preparation of billiard cloth, with a 3 month period of manufacture from wool blending. Samples are glued to apertures.

1. Cloth in the grease;

2. Scoured;

3. Milled;

4. Carbonised, crabbed, raised and potted;

5. Brushed, steamed, cropped, raised, potted, dried, brushed, steamed and cropped;

6. Potted 4 to 6 times and tentered;

7. Brushed, steamed, cropped, dyed, tentered, brushed, steamed, cropped, hydraulic pressed hot, perched and rolled.
