Description
Cream museum exhibit card from the Department of Colour Chemistry, displaying 5 annotated samples of sponge cloth, the first two appearing to be undyed, the remaining three with different combinations of yarn and dyeing methods. From top to bottom:
1. loom state;
2. lightly scoured with soap giving 30% reduction shrinkage in length;
3. cellulose acetate dyed with celatine dye, viscose and cotton piece dyed with direct dye;
4. cellulose acetate dyed with celatine dye, viscose and cotton piece dyed with vat dye;
5. cellulose acetate dyed with celatine dye, cotton dyed with vat dye.
Samples are glued to apertures, two pieces with additional tape.
