Description

This object consists of five pieces in total: a printed label on cardboard (ITC 2017.67.1), three photographs printed with primuline on card (ITC 2017.67.2 - 4), and a description of the "Diazotype process of photographic printing and dyeing" on paper (ITC 2017.67.5). The instructions on the latter provide the directions for producing designs upon cotton, linen, silk, or woollen materials. The printed photographs (with pastoral themes of people, and cattle) bear handwritten text at the bottom right describing with what substance the primuline dye was developed. This relates to a patent 745, and references a medal from the Photographic Society in 1890.
