Description
This book functions as a box that contains twelve samples of dyed cotton cloth with primuline coulours. On the front cover, a handwritten text was added underneath the title (also written by hand): 'These dyeings upon cotton cloth were exhibited in Bradford on February 9th 1888 in illustration of the paper upon Primuline communicated to the Society of Dyers and Colourists on that date. Arthur G. Green'.
Arthur G. Green discovered the aniline based dye called primuline. On the inside of the cover another handwritten text was added: 'These patterns were prepared in 1887 when Primuline was first brought out.'
