Description

Partly worked design for an embroidered bag showing the border pattern of small checkerboards and a central repeating S shaped design.


The design is based on pattern printed in Peter Quentel's 1527-1529 'Musterbuch für Ornamente und Stickmuster' (Sample book for ornaments and embroidery designs). A facsimilie edition was published in 1882 under the title 'New Little Pattern Book'. Plate 58, lower design.
