Description

Partly-worked model for an embroidered bag. Worked in cross stitch showing the border design and an all-over pattern of diagonal squares.


The design is based on pattern printed in Peter Quentel's 1527 'Musterbuch für Ornamente und Stickmuster' (Sample book for ornaments and embroidery designs). A facsimilie edition was published in 1882 under the title 'New Little Pattern Book'. The attached label states this is from Plate 1, number 1.
