Description

Length of black and white printed textile, featuring a regular repeat pattern, with two-fold rotational symmetry.

Created as part of series produced for the exhibition 'In Black and White. A Selection of Counterchange and Other Patterns' (1995) University Gallery, University of Leeds., and publication M.A. Hann and X. Lin 'Symmetry in Regular Repeating Patterns' (1995). Referenced in publication as Figure 3. Class c2mm. Described as "an all-over pattern with several symmetry characteristics. A centred cell, whose corners and centre fall on two-fold rotational centres, is used to generate the pattern. Parallel reflection and glide-reflection axes alternate with each other in both vertical and horizontal directions. Two-fold rotation centres are present at both glide-reflection axes intersections and reflection axes intersections."
