Description

Length of black and white printed textile, featuring a regular repeat pattern of swimming fish, with four-fold rotational symmetry.


Created as part of series produced for the exhibition 'In Black and White. A Selection of Counterchange and Other Patterns' (1995) University Gallery, University of Leeds., and publication M.A. Hann and X. Lin 'Symmetry in Regular Repeating Patterns' (1995). Referenced in publication as Figure 3. Class p4mm. Described as "an all-over pattern consisting of a square lattice type unit cell, generated by reflection in the sides of an isoceles triangle and the highest order of rotation is four. Each side acts as a reflection axes, and two further reflection axes are diagonally placed within the cell itself."
