Description
Cream museum exhibit card from the Department of Colour Chemistry, displaying 4 annotated samples of patterned Bemberg silks. Sample 1. is a Crepe de Chine with blue, yellow and red flowers against a light pink ground, warp 150 den untwisted and weft 80 den crepe. Sample 2. is a Crepe Mousseline, with pink and yellow flowers against a light green ground, warp 100 den twisted, weft 80 den twisted. Sample 3. Suede Crepe, modernist 'seed pod' (?) forms in browns, warp Celanese, weft 2/15 Canton Crepe. Sample 4. Bemberg Chiffon Voile, with scattered flower forms in browns against a cream ground, warp 80 den voile twist, weft 100 den untwisted. Samples are glued to apertures.
