Description
Cream museum exhibit card from the Department of Colour Chemistry, displaying twelve annotated samples of dyed linen suiting textiles. Samples are taped and glued to apertures.
Section 1. entitled 'Tropical': four samples i. loom state; ii. mercerised. vat dyed. finished; iii. indigosol tinted; iv. vat dyed.
Section 2. entitled 'Dutch East Indies'. three samples i. loom state; ii. treated with acid stannic chloride at 60 degrees centigrade. iii. bleached and dyed with direct dyes.
Final section: crepe (2 samples: white and tintted) and cambrics (bleached and two vat dyed).
