Description
Cream museum exhibit card from the Department of Colour Chemistry, displaying eight annotated samples of dyed silk and silk and viscose textiles of various types of patterned and textured weaves. The samples are as follows from top left:
1. (warp) seraceta, nett silk (3% of fabric), (weft) seraceta - plain weave
2. (warp) viscose, (weft) spun silk - organic abstract pattern
3. (warp) 2/15 den. 85 turns Italian silk, (pile) 100 den. 30 fils viscose, (weft) 75 den. 14 fils. 30 turns viscose - floral pattern against a sheer background
4. (warp) 2/12 den. China thrown silk, (pile) 120 den. 60 fils. Tudenza viscose, (weft) 50 den. 10 fils viscose, 15 den. Canton silk 16 turns - raised broken net pattern against sheer background
5. (warp) nett silk, (weft) nett silk and viscose
6. (warp) nett silk, (weft) nett silk and viscose
7. (warp) nett silk, (weft) nett silk and viscose - dense flower pattern in golden yellow and black
8. (warp) nett silk, viscose stripe,(weft) crepe nett silk
