Mainly original copies of international magazines, periodicals or newspapers featuring articles by/about Zygmunt Bauman and /or his work. Also includes photographs and copies of online articles. References interviews with Zygmunt Bauman, visits he made, awards and reviews of his books/work.


Some with attached correspondence from the sender of the articles.


Mentions his photographic exhibition and Prince of Asturias prize (2010); Hemingway Award (2014); Gold Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis; his attendance at various festivals (Festival Filosofia; Festival dell'Economia di Trento; literary festivals).

Also includes (mainly English) articles that Bauman may have used as research particularly for period 2007-2009; some have handwritten annotations. Subjects include but not limited to; War in Iraq and Libya (2006); banking crisis (2009), security, freedoms, consumerism, economy, young people.

Biography or history

Press coverage reflects interest in Zygmunt Baumans work internationally. This appears to be influenced by publication of his books (and subsequent translations into foreign language editions), his attendance at events or awards he received. For example as a consequence of him receiving the Prince of Asturias Prize (2010) there is increased Spanish press coverage for this period.


Some appear to have been sent to Bauman by correspondents/contacts in countries abroad or obtained via sunscription with press cuttings agencies.

These were found in various boxes spread throughout separate accruals, roughly arranged by year. They have been brought together into one series by the archivist.
