Material relating to Anthony Thwaite's education.


Includes loose manuscript essays and talks relating to archaeology and poetry; copies of the Oxford and Cambridge School Certificate examination papers [1947], the Universities of Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield and Birmingham Higher School Certificate examination papers [1948]; a copy of 'Piazza' (the Kingswood School Press) containing poetry and prose by Thwaite [1949]; a play production programme and photographs; two paper notebooks containing schoolwork [1939; 1949]; a red notebook [with various loose inserts] containing a lecture on 'The Archaeology of Rutland' given to the Archaeological Society in December 1945.


Also two books on archaeology: 'Notes on Archaeological Technique' printed for The Oxford University Archaeological Society; W.G. Collingwood's 'Angles, Danes and Norse in the District of Huddersfield' (1929); and a book of poetry, W.R.Rodgers 'Awake! and other poems' (1941), with a loose insert containing a poem on Louise MacNeice written for Thwaite by Bertie Rodgers (1964?).
